On November 3, 1991, Renée Legendre was elected on an environmental platform. It is now February 28, 1992. Renée and her team are also stonewalling me. Despite repeated and frequent communications demanding a response, I have not had a single word in reply. I am still being threatened with seizure by bailiff and/or imprisonment. What I would like you to do is phone, fax, or write the mayor of Carignan, and tell her what you think.

When Toronto wanted to send it’s garbage “up north”, the mayor of North Bay sent a bag of garbage to the mayor of Toronto. Bravo! I drove past the Miron quarry the other day, and I cannot understand why its neighbours have not sent garbage to places like Carignan that won’t even try to reduce what is sent to the quarry.
Given that it is now 1997 and I no longer live there, your efforts would be better spent on something more productive than harassing Carignan. Many people did send letters of protest (some of which included dead leaves). The city was forced to ask itself what all this noise was about dead leaves—which may have helped to bring them into the reality of these times.
By the way, in lieu of the 12 days in prison to which I was condemned, I did community work—computer work for a church. The priest could not believe what my crime was! He kept scratching his head. He was pleased with my work and let me go home on the second day.
