Farmers around the world are fed-up about problems like these and some far more serious ones. Without farmers, no one will be fed—up or down.

In the past 20 years, I have donated my time and skills to the parents of children who were sprayed by ChemLawn in a school yard, to the design of theme gardens for humanitarian organizations, to public awareness of pesticide dangers, to sustainable agriculture, and to alimentary independence for everyone.

I feel good about what I have done, and I am surprised and pleased at the global response to the first version of Colombian Cartel, which went out with little editing or explanation. The bulk of the mail so far quotes wonderful new municipal composting programs. In some places, the garbage problem is so bad, that it’s illegal to throw leaves away! The outrage that has been expressed by people from thousands of miles away leads to me to believe that there may be hope yet.

And, lastly, I do have all the documents that prove that this story is not the creation of a science fiction writer. It’s too bad the subject matter is so pathetic.
